THE BEST THINGS TO DO IN BALI FOR FIRST TIMERS

What comes to my mind when I hear the word Bali is huge waves, pro surfers, healthy bowls, coffee, temples, cliff views, sunset and friendly people. Recently, I was able to visit Bali, an island located south of Indonesia with one of my college best friends after luckily snagging a low airfare from a domestic airline. Bali is a destination in Southeast Asia that I’ve been wanting to visit for the longest time ever since I’ve seen the movies Eat, Pray, Love and Ride. What makes me want to visit this place even more is the endless and colourful posts by travellers on my instagram feed. Well…finally, hello Bali! CONQUERING MT. DARAITAN

The most physically challenging activity I’ve ever done in my life. Mt. Daraitan is one of the beautiful mountains within the Sierra Madre Mountain range. The mystical trail was covered with lush greeneries, giving enough shade for the late hikers. Huge rocks are also present as support to hold on when crossing a muddy pathway. Weather can be bipolar. This mountain is not easy to climb, but anyone with persistence and positive thinking can definitely reach the breathtaking summit in no time. Continue reading “CONQUERING MT. DARAITAN”

BANTAYAN ISLAND – A PIECE OF PARADISE IN NORTHERN CEBU

1 hr plane, 3 hour drive, 1 and half ferry ride and 20 minutes tricycle before we reach the uprising beach destination located north of Cebu, Bantayan Island. Being a shooting location for a local Filipino movie entitled ‘Camp Sawi’, this not so hidden paradise continues to attract both local and foreign tourists. CLIMBING TAAL VOLCANO

It’s my first time to climb a mountain! A volcano, rather. Our Taal Volcano day trek was actually a spontaneous trip. It happened during a long weekend when my friends were all out of town, sipping cocktails and enjoying the beach while I scroll through my instagram feed at home. Why am I at home on a long weekend? Ideas suddenly started to kick in! I thought I wanted to do something I’ve never done before. Being in the perfect mood for a new adventure and craving for Tagaytay’s bulalo, I decided we climb Taal Volcano.

A GUIDE FOR AN AWESOME WEEKEND IN SAN JUAN, LA UNION

La Union is considered as one of the best surfing spots in the Philippines. The laid back city of San Juan is situated 280km north of Manila and the trip could take around 5-6 hours depending on traffic. San Juan, La Union is one of the top weekend destinations in the North, especially for people who want to unwind and get away from the bustling city of Metro Manila. You can surely find an accommodation that would suite your budget and preference. For this overnight weekend trip, my friends and I decided to stay at the hip and cool Flotsam & Jetsam Hostel. Continue reading “A GUIDE FOR AN AWESOME WEEKEND IN SAN JUAN, LA UNION”

TUMALOG FALLS IN OSLOB, CEBU

It was already noon when I started to feel hungry. Just in time to have a heavy lunch after a rigorous activity in the water. Swimming with the whale sharks is no easy task especially if you’re very persistent to get a nice underwater shot. Although I took a short free diving course before, my body just kept floating back unto the surface no matter how hard I try to go deeper. I looked like I was having an asthma attack as I kept on gasping for air every few seconds or so. Where the hell is my mermaid skills when I needed it the most. It must have been the sausage mcmuffin, hash brown and iced coffee that I had for breakfast, or the booze we had the night before. Nonetheless, we decided to have lunch at one of the humble restaurants nearby before continuing our Oslob adventure. After filling our tummies with scrumptious seafood lunch, we head on to cool off at Tumalog falls. Continue reading “TUMALOG FALLS IN OSLOB, CEBU”
